Nothings Sells and Nobody Buys Anything

For today's post, let's talk about ways to improve making gold in Diablo 3.

A common problem, voiced by many emails that I get daily, is the idea that "nothing sells." If we change that statement to "nothing you list sells" things begin to get a little clearer. Two people actually said to me yesterday that their particular regions of the world don't buy diablo 3 items for money. When I rephrased their words to "nothing you list in that region sells" their entire attitudes changed.

The problem isn't with everyone else not buying, it's with you not selling.

So how in the world do we change your bad selling habits and see some money from the RMAH? We start with the gold auction house and understanding supply versus demand.

There is a profitable "top" and "bottom" to every marketplace. The top for Diablo 3 markets are high end items which are both rare and sought after. The low end are low value items (value, not level) which are both common and sought after. It's interesting to note that high value items in Diablo 3 are mostly comprised of level 80 gear/weapons, but most of the low value items also come from this category (instead of low level like you'd expect). This is probably due to the fact that at level 80 you're ready to improve your character beyond what's necessary for suvival and just getting to the next level (which no longer matters).

As long as there is demand, an item will sell. How much is the real question, and that's determined by the strength of the demand compared to its volume.

Since low quality items do sell, I want you to try your luck at this market. We're talking 1,000 to 2,000 gold profits here. Items worth pennies, if that. Believe it or not, they actually sell! That's right, level 1 - 79 items worth less than 3,000 gold sell probably one per second.

If Diablo 3 did not have a limit to the number of auctions you could have, I would be listing thousands of these low profit, high turn over items.

So what are they? Every item category in the game, with a special emphasis on rings, amulets, and weapons.

You don't need to find super rare markets in order to make money in this game. In most cases, they are surprisingly right in front of your face!

Focus on low value, high turn over items. This is your first step into a larger world!
