Quit Your Job Money from Diablo 3

One of our forum members wrote a terrific thank you to everyone in this community. I think it's only right to share his words beyond just the private forums.

"How this Community Help Me Quit My Job"

Hello everyone, many of you know me but there are a good amount of you who probably don't. I just wanted to let you in on a little bit of my personal life and give you all some insight on what this game, community and forum has done for me thus far in these past 8 months.

For those of you don't know me very well, I am a 21 year old college student. I'm pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering and up until the new year worked mostly full time along with going to school part time. Ever since high school I was only a part time student and recently started to realize how long it would take to get my degree if I continued on that same path. I came to the conclusion that it was time to man up and go to school full time. After making this decision, I also concluded that there was no way I could continue working and successfully handling an engineering student workload at the same time.

Why is this important? My decision to leave my job after three years was made so much easier due to the money I make from Diablo III. Had I not joined this forum and purchased the guide, I wouldn't be where I am now. I know that sounds a little ridiculous but it's true. Other that Diablo, I play a lot of XBL and gaming is one if my favorite hobbies. Making money from Diablo like I have is beyond what I ever thought was possible. I'm sure I could have figured out another way to earn some money while going to school full time, but not one where I have as much fun as this nor would I be part of a community as cool as this.

I truly don't make an insane amount from the auction house, but I am consistent on a day to day/week to week basis. If you have ever been a college student, you know exactly how much a little extra money can help. All in all, the Diablo III market can change at any time and all of this consistency I have had could diminish instantly. I wouldn't advise anyone to try to depend on this game for a living because I don't. If the auction house disappeared, I would still be a full time student. I just wanted to share with you how this community helped inspire me to fulfill my goal of becoming a Mechanical Engineer as well as making things a lot easier along the way.

My plans for 2013 include to continue playing the game and the AH as well as maybe beginning to stream Diablo III or Call of Duty on a regular basis. (I am an avid COD player as well) I still haven't decided but I do have some ideas floating around...

I just wanted to thank Marcko and everyone here in this community for all you've done, every person has helped create what we have and what we know as far as the auction house goes. As far as I'm concerned, we are the most knowledgeable people about this economy in the world.
